Junior Football Championship 2022
Didn't seem to be any thread for this grade so starting one here.
Was in attendance at Churchtown today for the Avondhu final, fair play to Buttevant for getting over the line after a lot of huff and puff with no reward for the first 25 mins of the second half. Charleville's strength and conditioning from their hurling proved formidable and they turned over a pile of Buttevant attacks in the second half but left a couple of scores behind them down the straight that would have sealed it for them. They did a good job of keeping Buttevant's main men out of the game until the final two scores that decided it, good moves finished well with left footed shots from Michael O'Neill and Conor O'Hanlon. Special mention to Charleville keeper Jesse Smith for an incredible save in a one on one near the end when it looked like Charleville would hold out. Buttevant won't be fancied entering the county but they have a bit of a monkey off their backs now and have forwards in O'Hanlon and Mark Lenahan that can score, even if today was very low scoring.

Yeah he played midfield yesterday and got the levelling point. Took a heavy bang in the first couple of minutes and was about 10 minutes before he could come back on. Didn't contest too much high ball as Buttevant didn't press Charleville kick out until final few minutes. Plays with his head up and got on a lot of ball yesterday when Buttevant were chasing it in the final few minutes. Hopefully he and a few others will benefit from playing at a higher grade in Premier Junior next year.

Kilmurry beat Thurles Sarsfields by 2-11 to 0-12 and win the right to get hammered by Fossa in the Munster Final, who beat some poor Limerick gang by 1-22 to 0-5

Don't thick there's a dedicated hurling thread so I'll dump this in here
Junior A Hurling County final reply
Erin's Own 1-30
Kilshannig 3-20 after extra time.
That is some scoring for December and for Erin's Owns second team. County champions

He might have a few new lumps tomorrow night but in all fairness he's a freak of nature.
He should be handicapped. Like for instance tie one of his hands behind his back, or better still
make him play with wellingtons.

1-17 to 1-6, the expected stroll in the park in the end for Fossa. Clifford's combined for 1-14.
In rankings it was 25th verses 53rd. How is that fair?

A tenner that I'll never see again as the Clifford brothers bury Cork Junior Football so deep that even Lazarus wont bring it back up.
Incredible that football mentors persist with a sweeper even when the opposition are down a man and well behind on the scoreboard.

At least you didn't have to watch it Tipp and listen to a bigger Kerry bollix than Palmer.
How Murt Murphy is allowed to get behind a microphone in a streamed match beats holy hell.
We were forced to listen to Kerry's greatness all day.
Serves me right for hoping that Kilmurry knew how to kick, hand pass and score.
They got the first two all right, but scoring is a foreign territory to most of them.

Do we know who is Cork's 24th best football team?

Does that mean he will miss their next game?
Then again as per Rule 43 (B) sub section 3 now that Fossa will be playing in different grade next day he's scheduled to play,
the automatic suspension cannot apply as the player's next game must be in the same grade. We love the GAA rule book.

Re: Junior Football Championship 2022
Just now watched a recording of the Fossa game as it coincided with our McGrath Cup game yesterday and my stomach wouldn't allow me to watch it within 24 hours of knowing the result.
One T. Murphy from Galway should get rid of every mirror in his house. I never saw this man with a whistle before now, and I hope I never see him again.
How the Tyrone club Harps didn't bury him after the game remains a mystery. Perhaps his sending off of the two Cliffords helped to quiten their fury?
I've seen bad refereeing many times but this lad defies belief.
I won't bother listing the instances of bias in favour of Fossa as there was too many, but the two frees he gave them soon after half time need mention and the necklace tackle by Fossas No 8 meriting just a yellow and a knowing wink from the Kerryman to his mates as he walked away from Mr Murphy says it all.
I wouldn't complain about the first RED to the Harps No 3 as it was a sneaky little jab. The Fossa No 15 was asking for it of course as he went down as if he was shot. An exact replica of the Macho man Mahony the day Donnacha gave him a tap on the cheek. Them Kerrymen are very soft.
The Cliffords now Joined Derry and Thorny O Shea from Tralee as the only brothers to be sent off in the same final in Croke Park.
I look forward to reminding my few remaining Kerry 'friends' of this unique record held by Kerry along with their many All Ireland titles. There must be a link somewhere?

County Quarter Finals this weekend (Sunday)
Barryroe V Castlemagner. Barryroes first every Carbery win, Castlemagners first Duhallow in 62 years. Ill go Castlemagner
Killavullen V Ballygarvan. Kilavullens first Avondhu in 23 years. Ill go Ballygarvan, seem to be operating at a higher level and look strong
Canovee V Lisgoold. Canovee will have it easy. They're favourites for the county.

Re: Junior Football Championship 2022
Was at the Killavullen v Charleville final a couple of weeks ago, a poor game but Killavullen were 0-7 to 0-1 up after about fifteen mins and kept Charleville comfortably at arms length then. Have a good half forward line and on their day could be a sticky opponent for any team in the grade, but Avondhu sides don't have a great record in recent years.

Re: Junior Football Championship 2022
Castlemagner 2-10, Barryroe 1-11. By all accounts CM were lucky here, play Canovee next in a semi final.
Ballygarvan 1-10, Kilavullen 1-9. Kilavullen were 1-6 to 0-4 up just after HT but fell apart thereafter
Canovee currently hammering Lisgoold
So its the semi finals-
Canovee V Castlemagner
Ballygarvan V Mayfield
