Of course they're short a few players who have already appeared for the seniors.

Full-back Dáire O’Leary, centre-back Ciarán Joyce, right half-forward Darragh Flynn and full-forward Pádraig Power all started in the win over Dublin in UPMC Nowlan Park ten days ago, while captain Cormac O’Brien, who is selected at number 4, and dual stars Brian Hayes and Jack Cahalane – left half-forward and left corner-forward respectively – all came off the bench in that clash. Midfielders Sam Quirke and Brian O’Sullivan were also part of the matchday squad for the decider.

Very bad mistake by Dáire Leary pounced on. Apart from that, doing OK. Giving an exhibition of high fielding all over which is great to see from a Cork team
Giving away too many easy scorable frees

Re: Cork under 20 hurling 2021
Tipperary far too good for what looks like a poor Cork team. There's no focal point in attack, all playing as individuals. Our 2 main men Power and Cahalane walking into blockdowns along with a few others. Too much wild shooting and wides. Cahalane needs to be closer to goal as Cork will probably need at least 3 goals to win it
The other end they were doing ok but getting swamped by MF runners, our MF being destroyed. Free after free after free in front of posts conceded. Tipp attack not missing much.
No comeback here tonight

From what I heard, Tipp-Ex, you weren't the only one delighted and a bit surprised by the comeback.
Great work by Cork after the exertions of last weekend.

Well, I'm glad I was wrong at HT. On reflection, the game that Tipperary had last week v Waterford stood to them in that first half.
Cork were a transformed team in the second half, and good management words at HT. We won that half 3-10 to 1-4. We scored 3-18 from play.
The high fielding was a sight to behold. Something we've lacked for 15 years. The backs have a bit of dog in them, closing ranks around the D, smothering the attacker, catching high ball, running onto the incoming ball, linking up well, heads up hurling. Joyce is a beast at CB but he's just one of many.
A definite shift in hurling philosophy in Cork. The win is the bonus.
A great night.

The great and different thing about Cork's two second goals is that simple points were on but the players never even thought about it.

If there is only one thing I'll take with thanks from tonight's game was the sight of Cork defenders defending and what's better taking pleasure from it. Attacking the ball driving up the field and not giving a shit what's in front of them be it a colleague or an opposing player, all were fair game. O'Leary and Joyce should be wearing red at senior level sooner rather than later. A word too for Eoin Downey, the spirit of The Glen is strong within him, maith an fear, a pleasure to watch at his work.

Re: Cork under 20 hurling 2021
Some display by Cork Young guns last night. Even though they were out hurled in the first half I was hoping a goal might bring them back into it. Never did I think they would produce such a second half display. I haven't seen any cork team show such character and determination with no little skill in a long long time. Was it 3 18 from play? And some sweet sweet scores there. The backs fielding ball was a joy to see. In the second half each time a long ball went in u just had the feeling that one of Joyce, Leary Twomey and Downey would come out with it. The forwards upped it in the second half and the point Power got when he harried and disposed his man summed it up. All the subs made a big impact too. And credit to the management. They didn't panic when out played in the first half. I was expecting a change or two at HT. But they trusted the lads to come out and show what they can do before bringing on the subs. After the minors display v Clare (albeit a very poor Clare team) and last night I finally can be a bit more optimistic about the future of Cork hurling. If the seniors can hurl with such passion on Sat we might yet rattle the All ireland.

Good man Skyblue
To me I can definitely see a different type of player in and definitely a different type of hurling from our 21s.more direct, more tenacious, more aggressive, more high fielding, more modern basically. Its what we've all been crying out for the past 10 years. I wonder is it an agreed format across all Cork development squads?
Also, when did that O'Connell lad get the S&C appointment? I think we might be starting to see the fruits of his work. A bigger, stronger athlete. Cork last night just brushed Tipp aside in the second. To me, Joyce and O'Leary are tanks and are ready to go straight into CB and FB respectively at Senior in the league 2022

Massive game once again tonight, let's keep it going. I see Cork are slight favourites. I don't know about that. Limerick are a serious team and have some excellent players especially in attack. Twill need an exceptional performance from Cork in what is effectively an all ireland semi final

Stop fouling for scorable frees. He's one of those refs, likes the sound of his whistle. There's goals there

Re: Cork under 20 hurling 2021
We could be further ahead without playing great. Can't give the ref any excuse for frees. It's breaking the rhythm of the team. I think they are doing a pass too many in the forwards, they obvs going for goals and that's great but twice LK scored when cork overplayed the ball and lost it. I feel like they can up the game a bit, Joyce hasn't been in it much. At the same time theres more in Limerick too.

Re: Cork under 20 hurling 2021
Ive 2 questions
1.is the TG4 mic on the roof of the Frank Murphy stand?
2. Where do they get these refs? Multiple points not frees for both sides. Cathal O Neill LK got a yellow for nothing. Think 16 points have come from frees. Thats ridiculous. Neither team is that bad ffs.
Anyway, Cork finished the better. We're the better team in the balance of play. LK relying mostly on frees to score. Our FF line have the beating of their me. Brian Hayes has thundered into the game. Feed Pádraig Power at FF, he'll do damage

Re: Cork under 20 hurling 2021
Great win. They well and truly deserved it after being tye better team over the hour. Conceded a soft goal which highlights the importance of O Leary at 3. I hope he makes the final he will be badly needed. On the goal I thought Cork could have had a free or two leading up to the goal but the ref player on. He defo kept Limerick in the match, which makes the win even better. Power, O Flynn, Hayes and Moynihan were excellent. Cotter was a right handful and has really come on. They won't fear Galway who were favourites at the start of the year. They have every chance of beating them.

Re: Cork under 20 hurling 2021
Great stuff but by god did they make it hard for themselves. Should have been out of sight buly the last 10 minutes, I'd say they missed 4 goals between bad luck, wrong options or good last minute defending.
I just knew that losing Dáire O Leary would prove to be important and it sure did. They got the goal and their tails were up. But this seems to be a new breed of Cork hurling teams now, they weathered the storm and pulled off a famous win. As Donal O Mahony said, this is a important new trait now in our teams and could be the single biggest factor going forward - we now know how to close out tight games.
The ref was a "game destroyer". Cathal O Neill scored 0-15 from them with I'd say 3 wides. Flynn got 0-7. I'm glad to see the back of him. It wasn't that he was anti Cork, he was anti letting it flow.
For now, we can bask in the glow of an U20 Munster double and a winning run going back I'd guess 15 matches (Senior Football doesnt count), we're definitely on the right path to relevance
