Re: Cork under 20 Hurling
Meanwhile, in D'Kerry Examiner the sub-headline and the first paragraph are about Kerry Hurling.
Because that's what the public are really interested in.

Re: Cork under 20 Hurling
If (and a big if), they pull it off and do a three in a row, without Joyce, O'Leary and Flynn (who is injured and by all accounts wont make it back), this will be the best of the three. From what I'm hearing, it's going to be a year too soon for most of the minors from last years winning all Ireland team.

Pretty woeful stuff from Cork in the first half. 5 points all from frees. One chance on goal that was scuffed badly by Calahane. Gave cheap frees away with foul hand passes and sloppy tackling. Poor game overall but if they don't wake up they will lose this game and deserve so on current performance.

Cork win by two in the end. In fairness they upped it in the second half. Subs made a difference when introduced. But there is. A Lot of work to be done. I know it was their first game and the pitch was shocking but there was a lot of poor touches and decisions. Ethan Twoemy had a good second half and Brian Ó Sullivan. Downey also came into the game. Hogan won a few vital balls as well as setting up the goal. Good to see young Leahy come on and win a ball and a free at the end.

How anybody would pay to watch this stuff is truly amazing. A free every minute and sometimes two. On TG 4 Youtube two gaelgóirs being effusive and loud when a free taker hits the sliotar 100 feet into the air and over the bar.
Sweet mother of Jesus if the powers that be don't bring back some kind of hurling as we once knew it, this ancient game is doomed and destined for the dustbin of old Érin.

No, Ranty. Hurling will go on. Every sport evolves, as teams try new ways to win. When I started watching football first, it was a case of catch the ball and kick it. In hurling it was get hold of the ball and hit it. Let the next man do his job. Sure it was exciting, but if your shooting was poor, the excitement was all on the other side. Now it's more about keeping possession; when you have the ball, the other team can't have it, and if they don't have the ball, they can't score.
It wasn't a great game. Cork were very slow and cumbersome, but never the less won some good ball. Shooting was way off and the desire to take on their man wasn't there.

Re: Cork under 20 Hurling
Sad to say I thought a lot of the Cork players looked lethargic and uninterested. Their first touch was extremely poor and never chased down the Clare player in possession, a typical example of this was the Clare goal, where Meehan was allowed waltz through. Twomey and O Sullivan stood head and shoulders above the rest of the Cork players, a big improvement will be required if this team is to progress.

No, Ranty. Hurling will go  on.  Every sport  evolves, as teams try new  ways to win.  When  I started watching football first, it  was a case of  catch the ball and kick  it. My opening sentence stands, Â All IMHO of course. Â
Here's my take on what hurling should be. Â Â You hit it with the hurley, and nothing else, high or low and hit it to one of your own if you can, otherwise try to score.
You mention football and here's my take on that also. Â Â It's title is FOOTBALL, so you must use your foot and nothing else to propel the thing forward od backward. Â Â The use of any other body part is a free against you unless it's accidental. Â Â NO more hand passing scores, accidental scores disallowed. Â Â
I know that I wouldn't pay to watch a modern possession game of hurling and wouldn't even watch it on TV except when Cork are playing. Â
Would only pay to watch four or five top football  teams and of course Would crawl under a barbed wire fence to watch a Cork football team, despite it's shortcomings .

I'm going to 'try' and see this game but am finding it very difficult to enjoy an hour where there's a free every minute and the little ball is nowhere to be seen until the ref throws it into a scrum after the other scrum failed to yield anything worthwhile.
Still and all there's Cork jerseys against Limerick jerseys and there's the little matter of a recent hammering from their big boys to be sorted out.

No sign of Ben O'connor on the team sheet. Really hope we can hold onto him. Remember watching Darren Sweetnam in the middle of the park and thinking this guy is going to be unstoppable. I was wrong, rugby stopped him unfortunately

Jesus, Limerick U20s doing to Cork what their seniors did on Sunday. Bullied, hunted, harassing and fighting. Depressing... 8 points down. Need goals already

Must be the grass in Limerick?
There were more scrums in that encounter ( game) than any rugby game.
Desperate stuff to watch.

Disappointed in that. I was following it on twitter and even there the constant flow of Limerick scores was worrying. At one point in the second half, it seemed to dry up for 5-10 minutes, but Cork didn't score sufficient in that time to make serious inroads.

Re: Cork under 20 Hurling
No improvement whatsoever from last week, we blamed the ref, the pitch but its the players that are wrong. Looked like a team together for the first time. We cannot defend in Cork anymore, no blocking or hooking, or stopping the player getting the first touch into his hand. I said after the Clare game last week they looked lethargic and uninterested, they looked the same tonight. The Limerick nightmare continues.

Missed the whole thing. Sounds terrible. No AI in that team.
Donal O'Mahony is over them, who else is in there with him? Is Wayne Sherlock invoked?
Doesn't sound like the same set at up as last year
