The only problem is that the Cork forwards are not winning enough ball. Even when it's on the ground they seldom come out with it. Goalkeeper's deliveries miles to high. I'm pessimistic, I'm afraid.

Gone totally out of the game. Can't win ball especially up front

Need to get ball inside to FF line, they are starving. Big 15 minutes needed for our sanity

We do not know how to win matches ANYMORE.. That ref was just waiting for a chance to give LK frees in. Fucked that away in normal time. More shit from Cork hurling.

Can't see a win here. The ref is riding cork too tho. Every single tackle seems to be a free.

Great start to extra time. Subs making a great impact. Fair play to O'Brien with the sidelines. They need to hold out now.

Great extra time. Showed what Cork teams can do when when they move the ball quickly and avoid being bogged down. The handling was better also, which helped.

Believe it or not, I had to go out at 6 so missed the entire ET, I recorded it but the box never copped the ET element, fecking Sky I don't even know the score but the comments here and on proc show we won.
Anyone want to describe ET for me? I've had a long painful day watching the blood and bandage

Yes, Sky does that, Tipp-Ex. I've cursed them more than once. You may be able to watch the match on TG4 Player. They should have it up by tomorrow.

Spoke to soon my sweet garsún for here comes Christy Ring. Well done. They completely dominated extra time. O'Briens sidelines and then the free he won really gave them a platform. All the subs contributed. Credit to management to moving out Barret to the middle he got an a lot of ball when momentum was all. They trusted the subs and emptied the bench. A bit cuter up front and could have got another goal or two. Lk seem to run out of gas thank god. Finally a Cork team grinding out a win, but I couldn't breath there for 60 mins!

Tipp, extra time was great for Cork. They began to win more puck outs and the subs really brought an energy to the game. Cork seemed to finish with a stronger team. The backs defended from the front and everybody worked harder to tackle the LK player in the ball. I must comment on the ref I thought he was shocking. He was way behind the play and made some awful decisions. He really kept LK in the game. I'd never want yo see him ref a cork game again.

Re: Inter-county Minor Hurling Championship/Under-20 Hurling Championship
Thanks lads.
I try to avoid commenting on referees. With about 15 to go, O Grady on commentry said that Cork have to stop fouling out around the half back line. The referee was only too glad to award those late frees to Limerick just 40 meters from goal but we gave him the opportunity to do so. The second to last one in fact was for over carrying out of the ruck which followed another over carrying one at the other end literally 30 seconds before. Its very rare you get caught for overcarrying like that in quick succession.
Anyway the job was done in ET but it should have been wrapped up in normal time. While youd have liked that too happen, one cannot underestimate the way Cork did grind it out in a close one, they're the type we've been losing too much recently. Don't know if there's an All Ireland in that team but at least we finish the day on a positive, its like im still in shock after that minor display.
To me, it was obvious that the subs even in normal time mage a big difference and I hear Daire Connery really stepped up in ET, he'd remind you of Mark Coleman.
I'm impressed by Shane Barrett, I think he's got a bit of cut about him to make it at Senior.
I also note Pat Ryan not being afraid to take off the big names unlike the seniors, he took off Seán Twomey and Tommy O Connell to name just 2 when it wasn't working for them, good strong management there.
Big step up needed for the final but I'll sleep a little easier tonight now after that

Agree on Ryan not afraid to whip lads. And too be fair all the lads called ashore were the right decision at the right time. Even taking O'Connell off the frees was a good decision. I thought O'Regan could have been sprung earlier especially because the ball wasn't sticking up front. He can be a good ball winner. Was he injured? They have to go on and do the job V Tipp. They can't give the referee any excuses by given soft frees. The loose arm was a killer tonight. Twomey and O'Connell can't be as quiet again. Will need a massive performance by the whole squad in the final. 1.13 in ET was great scoring.

Re: Inter-county Minor Hurling Championship/Under-20 Hurling Championship
Just thinking back to the Minor disaster yesterday. The 2 incredibly soft goals before HT killed the Cork challenge, they never recovered. It was car crash stuff watching it.
I think we all agree that that team are better than that, the knockout nature of this years championship has put paid to backdoor, we'll have to wait 3 years to find out though.
Just a thought - to me its obvious that we have an inflated view of our underage standard and the players in it. We're operating in our own super duper bubble until as such time as we go up against other county teams and find that we're not at the level required. We've basically done nothing in years at intercounty and yet if you read the views on proc especially, this years minor team were going to win the all ireland. Something is not working and it needs looking at, is Rebel Óg working for instance?
Convention is next week - will this even be discussed? Somehow i doubt it

I thought we'd seen the worst of Cork hurling over the last 7 or 8 years at various times unfortunately yesterday we plumbed new depths. I actually had to go out for a walk after the minor match finished as I tried to gather myself. The team basically fell apart after the concession of the 2nd goal. The second half was a non event. 2 points in 30 minutes of hurling from a Cork team says it all. As for management well, god help us. Donal Og Cusack has some serious questions to answer. He talks a good game but jesus christ what were they at yesterday?? Trying to run a team off the pitch went out in September 2006 and yet we were back at it yesterday. Cork players were catching the ball and soloing over to the sideline with the ball. I mean what in fuck is that supposed to be? Our half back line tried to run the ball through 2 and 3 Limerick men. Limerick are the nearest thing in hurling to a professional team from U16 up. Their conditioning is incredible never mind their fitness and we are trying to run through them??
I've said it here before, young fellas in Cork growing up now have not got a clue around the psychology of defending, they are not coached to defend and they take no pride in it. The natural instinct to defend is totally missing in most Cork defenders. Yesterday Limerick had a sideline cut around the centre of the pitch. The Limerick man took his time, looked up and clipped a 15 yard ball to a colleague, his colleague took the ball standing, turned around, weighed up the shot and scored. This was all done with his man standing 2 yards off looking at him and deciding to engage the man when the ball was in his hand. That is when Cork defenders by and large react, when the ball is with the attacker.
When is the last time we've seen a Cork defender burst out and win the ball ahead of his man? when is the last time we saw a Cork defender level a fella using shoulder, hip or both? Cork defenders hurl from behind most of the time, they are not aware of the mantra to hold the middle and not to let anything through the middle and they do not defend as a unit. Elite coaches and Managers are practically non-existant in the county at present. We badly need to get in someone who has no ties to anyone who can call out the deficiencies at all levels in hurling because there are plenty. The County Board need to call an extraordinary AGM on the state of hurling, the paucity of success at underage hurling and the continual slide into mediocrity that we are all witnessing. Hurling in Cork is very elitist in the people involved at inter county level. They are a closed shop who don't suffer outsiders or someone who will call them out. Tipp and Kilkenny are the same way but we are worse than them and we suffer far more from it.

Cork playing Tipperary next week in the final after they beat Waterford last night 5-18 to 2-16 AET. They were lucky by all accounts.
We absolutely owe them a beating in hurling especially at this grade

Watched the game last night. WD should have won the game in regular time. missed a penalty and a few handy scores. They were much the better team for 60 odd mins. Running at Tipp constantly and giving them all sorts of trouble. They list a couple of key men to injuryand only then did Tipp begin to show their class. WD were out of gas by ET and the Tipp subs contributed well unlike WDs. This game will bring Tipp on a great amount. Their heads never went down after the first or second goal. But they can be beat. Both Cork and Tipp used the bench v well in their games. They love scoring goals so our backs will have have a job keeping them out. We do owe them a beating.itvbe great to end such a bad year on a high.
