If that's the best our county champions can do against the Tipperary champions, then God help Cork.
Nemo were a total shambles and deserved to get destroyed. Clonmel took the piss outta them

Re: Premier Senior Football Championship
Nemo's problem seemed to be that they wanted to play non-contact football. They allowed Clonmel to waltz all over the park without laying a finger on them.
All that said, they should have had a penalty near the end when the Clonmel defended drove his shoulder into the front of the Nemo player, right under the eyes of the umpire whom the ref consulted before awarding a free out.
Kerry is another country. They do things differently there.

In fairness Tipp it's fairly obvious that yer man yonder is a good football man and is deliberately sh1t
stirring to rib the city lads. He's winning the battle hands down and loving it. The more insults they throw at him the better he likes it.
There's a few know all pr1cks on that site that need belting and by God that Clon guy gives it back in spades.
There's a smurphy clot who thinks nobody knows anything only his lordly self, but he's a poor second to the above when the chips are down.
As you say, it will be mighty interesting to see how Clon perform this year. I happen to know a little
bit about them and I'm aware that they are investing a lot of time and money into their senior team
this year.

Re: Premier Senior Football Championship
Plenty good games starting this weekend, ill post up the fixtures. Some line up of games across the county plus in the divisions, might put a stop to "Cork Sports Sunday" turning into a music programme. DUMP the MUSIC FFS.
The split season was designed for this. BTW, if Cork had reached the AI football final, the Co Board would have had egg on their face, they fixed these games for the same weekend presuming (correctly of course) we wouldnt reach it
Friday 28th July
Castlehaven v Carbery Rangers. Ill go Castlehaven. I havent looked at league form or anything, these are wild guesses for a bit of craic
Nemo Rangers v Ballincollig. Nemo
Saturday 29th July
Carrigaline v Eire Og Eire Óg
Douglas V St Michaels Douglas. I hear Eoin Cadogan makes his managerial bow with Dungarvan tonight in WD
St Finbarrs Mallow Barrs
Clonakilty V Valley Rovers Clon

Re: Premier Senior Football Championship
Great second half in Haven vs Ross. Two calls against Ross at the end where at least one looked harsh, but it looked as if John Hayes threw a punch that went unpunished as well so probably evened out. Not sure what the story with Brian Hurley being out is, Jack Cahalane got two bombs of scores in the first half but went off injured also so they'll be doing to get out of the group if they're both out. No idea if either Carrigaline or Éire Óg would be good enough to beat them at the same time however. Positive sign in tonight's game that the county players weren't head and shoulders above the rest, the tactical and S&C improvements made by club teams in the last 6 or 7 years is remarkable.

Re: Premier Senior Football Championship
Interesting 2 paragraphs from the Echo on a score in the Douglas V St Michaels game yesterday, id love to have seen it, whats the official rule?
"St Michael’s, playing their first top-flight championship game since 2006, trailed by six points with 11 minutes left but looked to have secured a draw when captain Andrew Murphy scrambled home a goal in injury time.
The midfielder had got his head to the ball to send it past Eoghan O'Brien - the first header at Flower Lodge in three and a half decades. In 1988, Michael's had benefited as Nemo Rangers' Dinny Allen had a headed goal disallowed in an SFC game and on this occasion their luck was also in as, while the ball didn't touch the net, the green flag was belatedly waved"

I don't know the actual rule, but I read in a book of the same thing occurring decades ago. The referee in that match disallowed the goal and when the player queried the decision, the ref, apparently said, “Dangerous play; you might have injured yourself!” That was a joke, of course, but I would believe the score you describe was legit. The only way you can’t score a goal, apparently, is by throwing the ball, or punching the ball to the net from your other hand,

Re: Premier Senior Football Championship
I was sure you couldn’t header a goal in football
You learn something new every day
Thought the Cahalanes looked good enough for Castlehaven despite Jack going off - hamstring ?
Barr’s fully in control v Mallow and obv looking to clock up scores to aim for a straight semi final again. - maybe looking to do the double this year !
Michaels needed something from that game v Douglas - they look in trouble already
Big surprise to see Shane Kingston back playing football - was it minor he played last. He was an excellent footballer - if he can regain his form, he’ll be a big asset to Douglas.
