New Cork football supremo.
Time to open a new thread on this as I feel the time is nigh.?
Based on media reports there are three men willing to undertake this onerous task.
They are brave men and I hope they have brass necks and thick skin as this will not be fun.
Bobby O Dwyer, Beara, John Fintan Daly, Duhallow and Keith Ricken, Seandun are the only names
if we can believe what we read.
I don't know any of them so best not comment on their respective abilities except to say all three have
known success with the county.
John Fintan's win was a long time ago when football was played in the old style, catch and kick. His new age
success is at club level and he can talk for Ireland if he fails at the football.
Bobby O Dwyer was lucky enough to steer a good minor team to the top recently and has some limited experience
at senior club level with Killarney Legion. Didn't have a lot of ammunition there against the dominant Crokes.
Keith Ricken's success with the U 20s was exciting and he had a talented bunch of young men under his command.
It's debatable if he's more long winded than John Fintan but neither of them are shy. Talk is cheap they say and who am I to argue with that.
Here's wishing good luck to whoever is chosen by our wise leaders.

I’m not sure if your criteria properly describes the kind of person we need, Ranty. After all it fitted Ronan McCarthy and with him it seemed to mean listening to one else’s advice. Look where it got us. It’s going to take a team to get this job done.

McCarthy had a peculiar head position when he spoke, kinda 'squayways' with one eye looking past the interviewer and
the other one on the lookout for a sniper on a rooftop. Looked like he didn't trust anybody.

Thanks Podsy
The County Executive will be proposing Keith Ricken (St. Vincent’s) as incoming Senior Football manager on a two year term at our next County Committee meeting. Selectors will be as follows: Micheál Ó Cróinín (Naomh Abán), Ray Keane (MTU / St. Finbarr’s), James Loughrey (St. Brigid’s / Mallow), Barry Corkery (Éire Óg) and Des Cullinane (St. Nicholas). Coach to be announced in the near future.
The new COACH will be interesting. I very much doubt if Ricken's style of attacking football will worry any of the big boys, or even the not so big boys. Appointing a selector from each of Kerry and Antrim will satisfy the lobby who beat the drum of appointing outsiders to solve our problems? I wouldn't have them, but Cork is lucky that I have no say.

I think this looks a good set up with experienced people like Keane and corkery and a recently retired player in loughrey, will be interesting to see who the coach is and of course very important.
Ranty I think you can relax knowing ricken is a shrewd character and his style of play will certainly trouble the big boys, I don’t think you’ll have to worry about any constipated, crab moving lateral hand passing at least

Specsavers need to see you Tipp.
That's Ray Keane brother of the recently deposed Peter from 'Bár Na Sráide' and teaching in MTU/CIT
Roy was asked but they baulked when he told them he'd need at least twice what he's getting from ITV
somewhere in the region of £3K a session.

It had crossed my mind, as well, but with Roy's temper and impatience it wouldn't last a week.

Oh sorry. I thought twas Roy Keane, the fella what works in penny dinners.
Good looking team I suppose. Who was Rickens coach at u20?
Vacancy at u20 now. Surely Bob O Dwyer will fall back in there

Re: New Cork football supremo.
S&C lads are ten a penny these days and with various supplements they can all build muscles.
What Ricken and Co. should be looking for are half forwards that can kick points from distance and at least ONE effing footballer that can kick 45s over the effing bar.
It was embarrassing in recent years to see our senior teams unable to score or even get close with long range frees. All the top teams and most minor teams, including our own, could perform this simple feat, no sweat.
Last but not least, they should not tolerate showboaters.

Reminds me of Paudie Palmer. There's something ... different ... about Kerrymen.

Yep, they can make money out of a mountain goat and a flipping Dolphin that didn't exist most of the time.
Throw in a Rose from Zambia or Melbourne whose great, great, great, grandfather was deported for sheep
stealing.
They are different, all right...........cute hoors...

As well as the usual pointless and endless references to his native Kerry.
Leen is an odd man if ever an odd man crossed the County Bounds.
