Minor Football 2021
Following the recent appointment of Bobbie O’ Dwyer as a selector with the Cork Senior Football team, an appointments committee was set up to recommend a new Minor Football manager. Following their recommendation, the County Executive have confirmed Michael O’Brien (Ballincollig) as manager, with selectors Daniel Cronin (St Mary’s), Gary Sheehan (Carrigtwohill), Martin O’ Brien (Clonakilty) and Donnacha O’Connor (Ballydesmond). All members of the management team were involved with development squads at Fé15 and Fé16 level in 2020 and have been approved for a 2-year term.

In minor football, Michael O'Brien's young side is paired with Waterford and must then meet Kerry provided they beat the Déise.
The dates and venues for the games will be confirmed by the Munster Council next Tuesday night.

Re: Minor Football 2021
Derry won the 2020 AI today, beating Kerry by 2-12 to 1-14.
I was flicking through the radio stations while out in my car and accidentally came across the last 2 minutes of this. Kerry got a winner with time up. You can just imagine the commentators, all I could hear was YES, YES , YES so assumed twas a goal.
Except it wasn't the winner. Derry had a goal bound shot foot blocked almost straight away. Penalty and yellow card. "AHH YOUR JOKING REF"
Scored. Kerry then had a chance to Level it but just like the 20s on Thursday night, it went wide and that was it.
They've had a bad week. 2 defeats in almost the exact same manner. I'm just sorry i didn't catch their commentary on Thursday night. I'd nearly start a Radio Kerry thread at this stage

Great second half in the minor match. 2 Derry wing backs were outstanding, shades of 82 at the finish, all the better.....

The ref only played 1 "Bonus Kerry Minute".
This is the same Kerry Minor team that got assisted to a win against a good Cork Minor Team by generous refereeing in Tralee last December.

That Cork sub is a fine footballer and will come again. He did incredibly well to win that ball and to get into that position, those skills will serve him well in the future.

A good mix of clubs and divisions there and the name Corkery from Nemo rings a bell. He's surely related to Colin of former fame?
Nice to see a Macroom lad in the mix even if it's only in the subs. It's been too long since that town produced a footballer other than Goold.

He's Colin's son. We're getting old.
Surely they'll keep this great run we're having going before the big test v Kerry next week.

Electric Ireland Munster GAA Football Minor Championship Quarter Final
Full Time Cork: 5-28(43)
Waterford : 0-3(3)
If there was ever a game in which nothing was learned, this was it.

Waterford young lads have a lot to answer for. It's not Cork or the team I'm calling, it's the stupid ignorant bostoons that create these fixtures. Fooking scandalous situation, where a group of teenage boys are subjected to such a hiding in the name of an association supposed to be there for the benefit of our people. Gimme a break FFS.

Re: Minor Football 2021
The result was down to Cork preparations being more serious than Waterford's. What would you have happen, Ranty? Abandon the open draw for minor and let Cork and Kerry have a bye? I'm not too sure any of the other counties would vote for that. It would probably not have been as bad a defeat against any of the other Munster counties, bar Kerry, but the rest of them would always fancy their chances against Cork. Football in Waterford is not all that bad. They gave the Tipp Under 20's one hell of a game.Ranty wrote:Tipp Ex wrote:What a waste of time

Well I don't have the answer or answers to that or those questions T, but I do know that football in Waterford is south of "all that bad".
There has to be some way of grading or handicapping counties based of previous performances and make the championships
more competitive.
Some day soon when I've finished polishing the Morris Minor I'll sit down and come up with a plan to save the GAA.

Something seriously out of kilter with that team T.
Hugh O Connor is one of our top scorers and he's No 16?
Where did you get that team? I can't find any team on our official web site which is a joke shop anyway.

The PRO was on the field last night after the game. 5 minutes after our young players received the u20 trophy, he was walking around with it in his possession and seemed to give it to Donal Mahony to take photos with I presume his kids. Like he owned or earned the trophy. It just looked utterly bizarre.
