In fact ye sound like some of our scribes from Kerry who like to pontificate about the beauty of their football.
The more interesting aspect of today is how cork and Derry have developed since 2019 and promotion from division 3 and don’t give me any of that bullshit about hurling ranty before you even go there.
My reasoning - we play a weak soft nice brand of football down here which allied to poor management choices at all levels has us where we are……judgement off still on current management
Who p1ssed in your cornflakes Sean?
What has hurling got to do with that 'ráméis' we witnessed in Clones today?
If you like that stuff, you are welcome to it, and if you'd like Cork to play that stuff, you won't have many in agreement.
It is of course a matter of choice and to each his own.
I will never call any of your posts 'bullshit' even if I disagree completely with what you say.

There's a rumour about that they beat Mayo comfortably in a recent challenge?
Rumours are just that of course

Killian O Hanlon is injured so not available for Saturday. Big loss would have been great to bring him on with 20 minutes remaining

The only injured player available for the Louth game is Paul Walsh, might make the bench I’d say

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
Less than 24 hours to throw in and no sign of a team anywhere.
It wouldn't be rocket science for somebody with the title of PR to post a few lines on the web site telling us when if ever they would post the team.
If it can't be posted for any reason we'd understand that too.
It's just the complete lack of communication with supporters/fans that
drives me cuckoo.
Hurray...Reply to question on FB page..........Friday at 8PM. I presume that's today.

Clearly taking care of his nephew Jack Cahalane. That was a fast promotion wasn't it!?
Are both keepers from Eire Óg where in fact the starter isn't even a keeper?

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
This is the bit I like, great to see Conor Corbett, Brian Murphy, Alan Walsh, Daniel O Connell, David Buckley, Darragh Cashman and Daniel Meaney on board and I suspect a few of them will get game time this year if we get over Louth.
I'm also happy to see Jack Cahalane on the subs bench tomorrow. He's a serious footballer with lightning pace and a tiring defender won't like to see him appear on the field. I don't think there's nepotism involved either.
I thought Gore would start instead of Hurley but I suppose Cleary would find it hard to drop his clubmate and that's understandable.
Here's wishing our footballers the best of luck tomorrow.
Extra Panel Members; Conor Corbett (Clyda Rovers), Luke Fahy (Ballincollig), Shane Merritt (Mallow), Paudie Allen (Newmarket), Killian O’Hanlon (Kilshannig) Joe Grimes (Clonakilty), Kieran Histon (Nemo Rangers), Michéal Martin (Nemo Rangers), Kevin Flahive (Douglas), Cillian O’Donovan (Macroom), Fionn Herlihy (Dohenys), Kevin Cremin (Boherbue), Briain Murphy (Nemo Rangers), Alan Walsh (Kanturk), Daniel O’Connell (Kanturk), Darragh Cashman (Millstreet), David Buckley (Newcestown), Chris Og Jones (Iveleary), Liam O’Donovan, Gavin Creedon (Kilshannig), Daniel Meaney (St Michaels)

He doesn't need to be a keeper either if he can be coached to kick the ball to one of his own or into space
where our men are favourites to get it. His restarts that last time we saw him were south of bloody awful so
let's hope and pray that work has been done on restarts. Otherwise Louth will beat us.

Kelly does play in goals for Éire Óg. Foley normally plays in the half forward line for them I think, but he was UCC's first choice keeper in Sigerson this year so obviously has some ability there despite struggling against Kerry.

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
I think the subs bench is much stronger overall with Walsh, Murphy and cahalane included while I agree that the best option was to change as little as possible with the starting 15. Please god they have got the kickouts sorted, my understanding is this is a strength of Kelly’s.
If they have the heads right and hit Louth hard and sustain it we’ll be ok and the possibilities open up for us. If our heads are off we will struggle big time

Too tight for my liking. Also Louth will be very much up for this considering the awful crap poor MH had to put up with recently. Hope we don't get pulled into a dog fight

This is a dog fight and unfortunately we are carrying a few fellas, we saw Vs Kerry the half forward line offered no scoring threat and it’s the same again and Louth know it…..dineen is all over the place, o’rourke has lost confidence to have a kick and Sweeney is too slow l, needs a change there as we are totally reliant on Sherlock and Hurley

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
Wow. Louth. I've never seen a team as negative. They don't even contest the Cork kickouts. They sprint back to their own 45 the second the ball goes dead. Incredible and the GAA are gonna have to do something about this.
Yet theyre right in this game. Cork are too slow to break (surprise, surprise), end up running into walls of bodies and are clueless on the breaks for the long Louth kickouts. Our half forward line might as well not be there. The only space Cork seemed to have got on the ball was at the 2 corner flags. Playing right into Louths hands.
This could very well end in a complete disaster

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
Comfortable enough in the end as you'd expect.
Harte's legacy suffered another blow today, but that's between him and his conscience.
Well done to Cork. Another day awaits. I'd like to see one of the inside finishers, or perhaps one of the half-forward line sacrificed for a creative foot-passer would also be our target for kick passes as we break. He would then feed the inside line. It's too slow at the moment.
Overall, though, the improvement continues apace. Respect to players and management as the hard work must be ferocious.

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
That was one of the most frustrating games I've watched.
Cork. It wasn't the perfect performance but they got it done. They worked hard. Twas always gonna be a huge slog against the ultra defensive set up of Louth. The goalie I thought did well. Tight enough at the back. We have issues at half forward now, none of them score or even shoot.
Sherlock and Hurley were a class above anything Louth had. Brian Hayes made a huge difference and should push for a start. Damien Gore did well b also when brought on.
The ref: he had his own rule book. One of the rules was if there's any upper body contact, I'll pretend it's an u10 match and I'll blow the whistle. Frustrating
Louth. I understand they've limited resources etc but they can fuck right off with that shit. Mickey Harte should be charged with bringing the game into disrepute. Not even contesting the Cork kickouts!!!!
Horrendous shit to watch and managers are allowed get away with this. Fuck Louth

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
Well Sean you got your wish but I agree with those who said Cork had no choice but to play that rubbish and as Podsy rightly said, Mickey Harte has sullied his football legacy.
Sweet Jesus that was tough to watch and thankfully Mayo and Monaghan are now ( Half Time) playing gaelic football.
I agree with Sean on our half forward line. Needs changing pronto. Not strong enough physically anyway. If Hayes comes into MF for next game O Callaghan should move to No 11 as he's a powerful runner and I think his mistakes are less than of yore. I'm a fan of Gore and and Blake Murphy so I'd have them on the wings. Sorry John and Daniel, but needs must.
Perhaps Corbett is ready for senior football? We need people who can beat defensive systems.
WD Brian Hurley, you shut me up today. Long may you continue.
Same for Sherlock. Worked his ass off and kept the scoreboard ticking over with excellent frees.

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
That was awful shit to watch, but the cheering of Cork handpasses along the halfway line with fifteen minutes left and two points in it, yet with Louth still not budging out of their 45, was one of the funniest things I've ever seen at a GAA match. And as worrying it was to concede that 1-3 at the end, hopefully it means that the Louth bus home has them all wondering what would have happened if they had actually attempted to play football. If they were playing against Dublin and trying to keep the score down you'd say something. Cork are a long way off being a team that should command that much respect, but fair play to all of them for having the patience to break down that bus. If Louth won that I was half expecting Diego Simeone to jump out from their bench and start celebrating with them.
The deficiencies which would make Cork rank outsiders against anyone other than Limerick next day out though were fairly evident. The half forward line offered no scoring threat. This was exacerbated by Cathail O’Mahony hardly touching the ball in the half he was on, let's hope it wasn't injury because he'll be needed. Brian Hayes was really impressive when he came on however, and surely warrants a start at half forward next day out. I would have thought Blake Murphy would have fancied running at that defence but I think the line were slow to introduce subs for fear that any guy coming on not totally switched on could turn the ball over, when a goal for Louth would have been fatal. Rory Maguire was the pick of the backs and has developed nicely as the year has progressed. And finally the call to give Brian Hurley the captaincy has to be commended, he looks like the composed, experienced head he should be now rather than guy very capable of blowing a fuse and getting sent off or trying to force the game too much and give it away. This group have had to grow up quickly this year with the amount of players unavailable and he has lead them well.
Limerick will obviously be the team to get in the draw but in order of preference after them: Roscommon, Donegal, Kildare.

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
Job done, good effort and application and a realisation at half time or before it that we had to adapt. Imo the 6 defenders are very sound as a unit, no scoring threat from the half back line but that might come with experience for Maguire and cooper who are 2 good physical defenders.
Hayes made a big difference and must start the next day.
The half forwards are a big issue, they are neither physical enough to turn over or tackle effectively and offer zero scoring threat, the last 15 minutes was made for Blake Murphy but the line persisted with Sweeney whose legs were gone and dineen who tries hard but I don’t see what he offers at this level.
The inside line is different, Hurley and Sherlock are lethal and work their socks off and Sherlock is a superb free taker, I hope o’mahoney wasn’t injured as he is a class player.
Maybe hayes to midfield and o’callaghan to centre forward where he will at least hold fellas up and showed with the goal he can finish.
Anyway we have another week at least and there is a definite clear improvement from the last few years with a structure in the team at 3-6-8/9 and 14

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
Following it on Twitter, as usual, so it was relief at the end, even though it seemed to me that the best team still won. Going by the way the scores were updated, Cork never dropped their heads, but kept plugging away. I’ll get a flavour of it tomorrow on The Sunday Game.
I see more than one person here (and on PROC) make the point that if Louth had played open football then they might have won. I see it a different way. If Louth had played more openly then more than likely Cork would have wiped them off the pitch. Keeping the scores tight always gave Louth a chance. Micky Harte is no mug.
