The group I'm interested in, it looks like Douglas and Newtownshandrum go forward with two wins each. Midleton and Kanturk having one win each, Kanturk take third place on head-to head, while Midleton head out into the relegation wilderness.
With a new manager and new coach this year, Midleton have been so bad as to be unrecognizable.

Re: Premier Senior Hurling Championship
What a set of results at the weekend to turn the completion on its head. Hard to believe that SARS and Midleton did not come out of their groups. There must be serious head scratching (thumping) going on in Glanmire especially.
Fair play to the pride of the little villages, Newtown and Kanturk roared into the 3rd rd.You have to feel for Charleville. What do they have to do to get a break?
Barr’s look a serious prospect now. If not this year, definitely a force to be reckoned with if they can retain those young players. Â As they mature and develop physically they have the potential of the Limerick Juggernauts. Â I’m sure they have a taste of it now with their success so far and that will surely feed the hunger for more. Â Outside of Hayes, Twomey, Cunningham, Cahalane & OConner I was seriously impressed with William Buckley too - what a sweet hurler and playmaker. Â Set up some lovely scores along with scoring a few of his own.
The SARS rearguard has to be seriously questioned though. Â apparently in a recent challenge against one of the Waterford sides, they concede 7 goals, and Barr’s coulda had one or two more as well on the day to add to the 4 that ended up in the net.
Glen were always going to beatNa Piarsaigh, they are surely to be relegated now, which is a sad situation for the club and what it tries to offer on the north side. Â Are their days of senior hurling numbered ?
A dogfight in Mallow, Darragh Fitz imperious although he only ended up with a handful of points. Â Rockies just edged it. Â They won’t fear Imokilly but you’d have to give Imokilly the edge in that contest.
Championship wide open now
Fair play to Bishopstown pushing Erins Own all the way. Â Results the last few years have not reflected how competitive they have been in long stretches of games. Â Guy from Tipp Morris seems to be an asset to them
Douglas slipped up (or were tripped) - with their dual players a semi final woulda been a huge plus.  Erins Own really are a credit  to themselves, despite getting the semi final spot, they will still prob
Be the least fancied of the 4 semi finalists - yet they go quietly and successfully about their business.
Frustrating not be able to see more of the group games but thought the Examiner covered it well. Â Although they played a bit too much to the permutations, it took a bit from what was unfolding in front of them.
Looking forward to next round and seeing more games

Big shock tonight, Newtownshandrum beating Glen Rovers by 1-23 to 0-23, was out all night so no idea who did what, did Hoggie play?

Horgan not playing. A very early goal from Newtown was decisive, as the Glen could never claw it back/

Re: Premier Senior Hurling Championship
Charleville 2-27, Piarsaighs 0-13.
That is some embarrassing result for a proud club like Piarsaighs and doesn't say much for hurling on the North side after the Glen were beaten by another N Cork village yesterday.
Relegated to Senior A. Shocking

Bit disrespectful to Newtown who have a proud history and a spirit maybe even stronger than the Glen
And Charleville is no village but I agree it’s poor result for PIARSAIGH’s although it’s been coming a while - I didn’t think they’d be walloped to that extent.
Looking forward to Pairc tomorrow - I’m hoping Douglas can man up and get over the line against the Barr’s - they have the talent and are a more experienced side overall - they need this win more than the Barr’s at the moment
I saw Brian Hartnett played with their intermediates today so he’s a good additional to the senior panel - we could well see him tomorrow
Black rock and Imokilly will be tight - again Blackrock haven’t set the world on fire, Connolly has had a quiet campaign so far, I’m hoping they do the business tomorrow

Watching the Barrs and Douglas on the Irish Examiner live stream.good game of hurling, a bit open but the commentary is a disgrace. As a neutral you would have to think there is only one team playing.

0-22 to 0-18 to the Barrs who are absolutely flying at all levels. Great game with both teams contributing to it, hard luck to Douglas who gave it everything

He’s in Canada since the end of the College year - due back in the New Year apparently
Big loss to Douglas this year

Re: Premier Senior Hurling Championship
Semi finals on Sunday down the Páirc, I presume both are in the Examiner stream
Blackrock v Erin's Own
Newtownshandrum v St Finbarrs
Again, tough to call. I think Blackrock have a bit of momentum now after beating Imokilly so I'll give them time nod.
The Barrs also have lots of momentum if you include every team they field nowadays seems to be winning. City slickers v the country boys. I'll go Barrs

Re: Premier Senior Hurling Championship
Fancy Blackrock and Barr’s also
But Erins Own & Newtown always hard beaten
Hopefully 2 cracking games
championships have been fantastic again this year - fair play to Kevin ODonovan for changing the format

And so it was
3-21 to 0-21 and 2-25 to 0-20
An all city final and the first Barrs v Rockies one since 1982. Barrs are on some roll

Re: Premier Senior Hurling Championship
Newtown very disappointing really - Barr’s are very good but maybe Newtown made them look a little better than they are.
1st red card looked very harsh - didn’t see the 2nd one
Rockies threatened goals in first half, you always felt they would come - by contrast Erins Own’s goals attempts were a thing of desperation at the end
Surely the end of the road for a few of those long serving warriors - I hope they have a few to replace them

Can you pay at the gate Sunday?
Also, looking at the forecast, looks like lots of rain. Anyone ener do the Examiner live feed? Is it easy to do? Does it civet both games? Any link to it?
