Re: Premier Senior Hurling Championship
Watched Blackrock 3-20, Glen Rovers 1-18 on the new rebels online thing.
Blackrock fully deserving of the win. Impressive enough performance. Alan Connolly came on as a sub late on and set up Robbie Cotters goal. That Cotter lad looks a tasty inside forward.
Well balanced team.
Glen were disappointing, faded away in the second half. They need to beat Midleton now, they're in trouble already.
Ref was whistle happy, too many soft frees given. But this is the Cork Co championship so no surprise. Annoying
Good first outing for rebelsonline for me, nice picture, no streaming issues, Tom Kenny and Ronan Curran on Co commentary (is it Patrick Mulcahy on commentary?), analysis at HT and Full Time. If your gonna watch games every weekend on it, it's great value at €60 for this weekend only, €80 thereafter.

Half time in Pairc Ui Rinn.
Midleton 0-13; Bishpstown 0-9
Going by the scanty twitter feeds, Midleton went behind early on, but then went into a 4 point lead, which they have been unable to increase.

Saw Fr ONeills v Charleville - Fr ONeills very reliant on Deccie Dalton - he kept them in the game with some unbelievable scores from placed balls. Got a goal from play as well but unless some of the other forwards step up I can’t see them being contenders- disappointing tbh
Darragh Fitz seemed to injury his ankle, limping badly after it and came off. Must be soul destroying for fellas at that level getting injured. Need some strength of mind to deal with it. I’d be rightly pissed off.
Ger Mellerick was down a few times at beginning of game as well but played on - hand injury maybe
Saw Glen Rockies on the box - Rockies look sharp but that running the ball out of defence can be hard to perfect and sometimes your forwards are starved of ball - looks great when it works, but if it breaks down you’re handing ball to opposition. Thought Glen were very poor - Hoggy must be hampered with whatever injury he’s carrying - but overall a very flat performance from them. I do expect they’ll bounce back for next rd when it’s do or die.

Re: Premier Senior Hurling Championship
2 poor games in Pairc Ui Rinn today - Bishopstown are better off relegated where they can try to regroup.
Todays game looked a a training game for Blackrock and I only saw second half - Bishopstown put up no opposition
Very scrappy between Douglas and Fr O Neills, only came to life last 10 mins
Eoin Dolan came on as a sub for Douglas and pushed them to victory with 3 points. Kingston started well but went out of it - Alan Cadogan was busy got 3/4 from play. Disappointed to see Brian Turnbull fade out of the game as well - Douglas have a few passengers - thought Donnacha Murphy done well on Dalton - he got nothing from play - I was amazed they didn’t push him closer to square last 10 when they were dropping balls in. Billy Dunne disappointing again
Sars threw down the gauntlet last night - Jake OConnor looked very sharp, but they really left it all on the pitch, worked extremely hard I thought. A badly needed response after the draw with Kanturk
Conor Cahalane must be injured he didn’t look that mobile at all, and similarly Jack Cahalane quiet. Nothing from play for Ben Cunnigham but tbh the SARS defence didn’t give them a minute on the ball, they were dogged. Luke Elliott is a beast of a man - it will be interesting to see his progression through the games
All the groups still open enough. It’s some competition - kudos to Kevin ODonovan for changing it up

Re: Premier Senior Hurling Championship
Glen were in that game with 15mins to go - Midleton punished their mistakes after that.
Hoggy missed something like 4 in a row (definitely3) after he was down with a head injury
Glen will be sick to be out at this stage of competition- they’ll beat Bishopstown easily
Lehane was standing up and on crutches by end of game so hopefully not too bad - it will be interesting to see if they will risk him against Blackrock given they are qualified already.

UCC not up to much from all accounts so Avondhu V Imokilly a repeat of last years group final, and you’d expect the same outcome.
Imokilly were to play a challenge Monday, against a Limerick team - Doon I think but I didn’t get any report of it

Hearing Darragh Fitz def out for Charleville - that’ll surely finish their chance to finally get out of the group
Newtown Sars game being streamed next weekend - never write off Newtown but hard to see past Sars coming out there

Watched the stream of this last night and in fairness Avondhu hurled well, but probably lacked a bit in the forwards apart from Stephen Condon and Colin O'Brien. That said Imokilly should have had probably got at least four goals, and they'll be a much more dangerous prospect if Jack Leahy starts the next day. The second yellow for James Keating to get sent off was slightly harsh and ended any chance of what could have been a tight finish.

Re: Premier Senior Hurling Championship
Some games to look forward to today
Be interesting to see who starts and who doesn’t
Darragh Fitz def out from what I’m hearing but a rumour Robbie OFlynn might be available ( a bit mad given his injury but we’ll see)
Will Midleton chance Conor Lehane, Is Alan Connolly fully fit for Rockies, Will Aidan Walsh line out with Kanturk
Can the pride of the parish overcome the big city clubs ( I’m including SARS here)
Pity we can’t see them all , but hopefully double headers next few weeks
This new format is just brilliant

Re: Premier Senior Hurling Championship
Wow, some amazing results here
Midleton 0-23, Blackrock 0 -18. This one didnt matter, both were through but it was just to see who would get to a semi first
Charleville 2-18, Douglas 0-21. unbeleivable from Charleville but what is wrong with Douglas? Darragh Fitz missing and Douglas a spare man for over half the game and they still couldnt win. Bottlers.
Erins Own1 -19, Fr O Neills 2-16. Fair result
Bishopstown 2-21, Glen Rovers 2-19. This is simply incredible. Glen in control but again, faded away. Lost all 3 group games. Relegation trouble now, Jesus.
Sarsfields 4-19, Newtownshandrum1 -18. Sars march on, i heard a report that the Shane O'Regan i was asking about elsewhere scored a late goal.
St Finbarrs 0 -29, Kanturk 1-18. Kanturk put it up to the Barrs till about the 50th minute after which Barrs pulled away.
So......
Quarters
Sars v Blackrock
Charleville v Barrs
Douglas v Imokilly
with Midleton awaiting in the semi final
Relegartion -
Kanturk v The Glen relegation playoff

Re: Premier Senior Hurling Championship
Glen Rovers relegated, lost 1-16 to 1-13. When is the last time they were not playing at the top Senior level in Cork? Ever?
People will get all nostalgic and come along and say hurling is dying on the Northside. BS. Its their own fault, they have been producing good competitive minor teams down the years...where are these players now? This wont effect Cork hurling one bit. They need to roll up the sleeves now and get back up.
I dont feel one bit sorry for them We all have our problems. In fact, congrats to Kanturk. They are hard bet, some club in fairness.
Glen/Nicks lose to Urhan one week and get relegated to Senior the next :-)
PS - PROC is down :-)
