Re: Cork senior football team 2022
Funny it may seem, but I'll give Kelly credit for causing Paudie Clifford to miss the goal chance. He was off his line very fast when the pass came through to Clifford and narrowed his shooting angle to zero. Paudie had no more than a foot or two to squeeze the shot through.
I've been keeping keeper stats for a long time and hold no brief or loyalty to anybody only Cork and I can't see how Kelly is preferred to Micheal A, based on possession counts.
His ability to restart from a standing start probably swings it in his direction as Martin is a wee bit ponderous.

Armagh beat Down with a late show, 0-13 to 2-6 in the Ulster Semi Final.
Does this result benefit Cork, or does it make any difference?

I can't wait for the reception in the South Mall.
I hope there's a singer in the panel to compare with Nollaig Ó Laoire.

Easiest draw Galway/Mayo, Clare/Louth, Roscommon, Cork
Toughest Dublin, Armagh/Donegal, Derry, Cork
If it follows last year
1v3, 2v4
4v1, 3v2
3v4, 1v2. Neutral venue

Could be worse. Beat Clare and we should be through.
Proc saying
Clare away
Donegal Armagh home in PUR, seemingly
Tyrone neutral

Kerry ate the kings of Munster football yet again after beating Clare by 0-23 to 1-13 in the Munster final today.

Will TSG team comment on it? Like hell they will.
Sweeney's back page on the S'Indo sums up the GAA perfectly.

No worse than yer man Devenney from Mayo who rode Galway U 20s out of Connaught.
A bit like a Kerryman reffing Cork. They cannot find it in their hearts to be fair.
Mayomen hate to see Galway winning and Devenney was a disgrace.
Spoiled a great contest.

Donegal win Ulster by beating Armagh on spotters sudden death
That's a great achievement by Jim McGuinness in year 1. Donegal looked goosed last year but they've now beaten Derry, Tyrone and Armagh in succession. Jimmy just wins matches and you can't argue with that.
Cork play them don't they?

This is without a doubt a must win for the Cork Footballers... They are noticeably improving incrementally but if they are to mentally make the next jump back to old traditions, beating Clare is essential

Meehan is a loss, but otherwise that team is pretty much as expected.
Middle eight battele will be crucial.

2/3 of the half back line missing. What happened Meehan? We seem to pick up a lot of our injuries between games

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
Clare almost the same as the McGrath Cup team that we beat on January 3rd in Clarecastle 2-14 to 0-8. They got 5 of those 8 points from frees with Downes the main man. He's listed at No 15 tomorrow night but was Np 10 in January.
Pa Doyle was in goal for Cork , Cashman No 5, Paul Walsh No 9, McSweeney No 10, Herlihy No 11, O Rourke No 12, Buckley No 13, and Blake Murphy No 15. Corbett scored 1-3 at FF but zero from the HF line. Let's hope Walsh, Powter and O Driscoll improve on that stat.
That was Tommy Walsh' introduction to No 6 and he did well.
I suspect that Kerry were at half throttle in the Munster final so we should be able to win this one.
Sean Lonergan Tipp is the ref and he's not a friend of Micky Harte.
When Louth played Clare last year he gave Clare an inexplicable free which should have gone to Louth and gave Clare the points as they scored from that defence free. So says Micky Harte anyway.
Let's hope Lonergan doesn't give John Cleary nightmares tomorrow.

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
There shouldn't be any need for extra motivation tomorrow, but a few players in particular have a fair but to avenge for from that awful day in Ennis last year - Rory Maguire got a fair runaround from Emmet McMahon, and at midfield Ian Maguire and Colm O'Callaghan were bullied out of it by Darren O'Neil (retired since) and Darragh Bohannon. Cannot be allowed to happen again.
Games against Clare in the last seven or eight years have generally been attritional, to be diplomatic about it. And that tends to suit them. So hopefully the instruction tomorrow will be to leave the full forward line close to goal, don't be afraid to get the ball in fast and don't be worried about leaving 1 on 1 at the back. Cork have a more skilled group than Clare, but have allowed this fixture too often to become a dogfight where too often the stomach for battle has been missing. It'd be great after all the years of these embarrassments to finally get one over on them, on their own patch, when it's a knock out game in all but name.

Cork up 1-6 to 0-4 at HT
This game should be over. Cork seem in total control, at least 5 different scorers but some easy changes going begging (what's new)
Clare on the other hand have had no scores from play and no wides.
I hope am this doesn't come back to haunt Cork

Re: Cork senior football team 2022
More clear cut goal chances wasted while in total control.
Clare score a goal, their first chance and now only a point in it.
Soooooo typical.
Cork should have em buried, now it's a complete dogfight
