Cork didn't respect the Offaly challenge. Very mentally disconnected today

Credit to Offaly, they tore into Cork
We were sloppy. Certain players should not be allowed shoot friom stupid angles.
Well done Lehane
Move on

Good thing was escaping without injuries. Wonder was today worth risking Pa Horgan. But it's done now

We deffo missed Harnedy today. We must have finished with one of the smallest forward lines ever

Re: Cork Senior Hurling 2024
Cork were adequate today in what was a sloppy performance. Shane Barrett at 11 was outstanding because he did the simple things and drove forward. The half back line at different stages were poor and this wild swinging at high balls will have to stop. One of our full back line had a very bad day and should have been taken off. Joyce was poor and rusty but started to play a bit in the last ten minutes. Connolly had tough and rough tome from the full back but I thought the ball into him was not great. Lessons will be learned from that performance and hopefully we wil see a far better performance in Thurles next Saturday.

Re: Cork Senior Hurling 2024
Hard to read too much into that game... it was just a game that had to be won to move on the next stage and we achieved that comfortably enough. No injuries and gametime for Joyce, ROF, JOC & Power...so all good in that respect.
The performance was as many have already said sloppy & unconvincing. 2nd gear stuff, overdoing the fancy stuff, nowhere near hard or intense enough. I can understand why...but it's still annoying watching it live and unfolding.
I know the two late Offaly goals only put a better look on the scoreboard....but those goals really piss me off. The game was well over by then but surely Cork would be professional enough & smart enough to just close it down, see it out. That's purely a mental and attitude thing and I hate seeing it.
I thought Barrett was our best player by miles yesterday and went about his business with purpose. Hayes, Dalton, Eoin Downey were good...most players were ok for the most part but very few others really stood out. And that's ok too.
Will be interesting to see the line-up next weekend. Harnedy will come in for Lehane but midfield is the question....I'm not sure Joyce did enough there yesterday to merit an automatic starting place. If Ethan Twomey isn't available I could see Luke Meade getting the nod there.

Re: Cork Senior Hurling 2024
Unfortunately conceding late goals is a Cork tradition by now. Offaly were aggressive, Cork weren’t, which is why Cork struggled throughout. You can’t keep your aggression just for the big teams; it always has to be part of your game, not matter who you’re playing.
Tommy O’Connell seems to be the forgotten man at the moment; no attempt to bring him on when Joyce struggled at midfield. I though he would be the ideal replacement. Hopefully Brian Roche has not also been forgotten.

Agreed.
Ethan Twomey is a pure worker at midfield, with a more defensive mindset, which is why he compliments Darragh very well!
Tommy is in that vein - I thought he looked good in both cameos against Lim and Tipp.
Joyce should be used at half back somewhere.

Fellas on Proc talking about how we're going to tackle Limerick, Clare, and Kilkenny.
What about getting over Dublin first?

Fortunately supporters have no input into the team's selection and tactics.

I'm sensing there's a lot of complacency (among Cork supporters) about this game. There's more talk about will we be able to get at Limerick than there is about the Dublin game. Dangerous talk - although I very much doubt anyone within the camp is thinking about anything but Dublin right now.
I fully expect us to beat Dublin too, all things being equal. But sometimes things are not equal...things happen in a game. If Cork go with the right attitude and fight, we should win, and will win. But if we're any way off it, it could get very tricky and nervy. And Cork over the past number of years have often gone into games not quite at it...consistency has not been our friend for many years.
And...who the fuck came up with this ridiculous 1.15 throw in time? I get the broadcasting decree, in that I get that they are calling the shots. But its a time that suits nobody...players, supporters, people working, families. A real kiss my arse of a time and a bit of an insult to all involved.

Re: Cork Senior Hurling 2024
I am afraid of this game. I was in Tullamore last Saturday and Cork were very poor especially their defence. For the life of me I cannot understand a back standing a yard or two off his man especially in a set play, whether it be a puck out , a free etc. I believe we have conceded 12 goals so far in the championship, Collins in goals last Saturday saved them conceding a few more. Its hard to understand why management are not doing sometimes to stop this leakage. Changes believe me should be made. Dublin will fancy their chances after that game last Saturday.
I totally agree with Sinbin, a ridiculous time and day to play an All Ireland Hurling quarter final. County boards must be afraid to question these clowns in Croke Park.

Soccer and repeats of whatever they're showing later on are more important to rte.
I'm also nervous about this game..In fact, Im always nervous about this Cork team. Just give Dublin green jerseys and tell the players theyre playing Limerick

I heard Donal Óg on radio this morning, he had some vicious rant about the way hurling is being treated and he's dead right.
His column is here - https://www.rte.ie/sport/hurling/2024/0621/1455914-hurling-nation-gaa-treating-hurling-like-an-old-dog/

A hypocrite of the highest order, he might look at his own employer RTE, who have refused to show these games at any other time on Saturday but will instead show a club rigby game from South Africa with no Irish involvement at the peak time, he might also like to comment on the milking of the Munster championship by gaa go which is 50% owned by……Rte

In fairness, he did comment on what GAA Go was doing with the Munster Hurling Championship.
I can't say I have his faith in Jarlath Burns. As a national broadcaster, RTE can be tamed. It's the GAA which is the real problem.

All about the attitude today. Gotta take Dublin seriously. They knocked Galway out, could have beaten Kilkenny the first day and drew with Wexford. Micheál Donoghue knows how to win hurling matches.
Gotta be right from the start and treat this like a Munster championship match, no fucking about

Meh
We're in control but only cause of the last 10 minutes. Too many players not performing. We're on track to score 30 points and unless there's a meltdown, Dublin won't score that. It's a brutal game
We're lucky Dublin can't shoot for shit.

Dreadful performance, attitude was absolutely desperate and hanging in vs an awful team. Not sure what they have been doing for the last few weeks but the legs look fairly dead

Limerick will destroy us by 15 points plus based on the last 2 performances. How many matches now have we left teams back into matches going into the last 15 minutes.
Very dispiriting. Getting destroyed in a semi will put us back.
Losing well is progress but we are getting destroyed based on form of the last 2 weeks
