Job done. Big improvements needed obviously but Dublin were so septic they dragged us to their level.

Re: Cork Senior Hurling 2024
Settled down a bit now
It was poor, lethargic, probably complacency again after last week. Did enough.
Id have taken an AI semi final at the final whistle verses Clare. We'll go in now as underdogs which for some reason suits us, but there must be something in the Cork DNA that flips the norm
2 weeks to get things right for Croker and a massive Cork crowd, a completely different set up. And no more 1.15pm throw ins, that was simply ridiculous
Lots to work on. I'll comment on individual players later but ROF looked sharp when he came in

Re: Cork Senior Hurling 2024
Disappointing performance. The amount of ball Dublin were able to win cleanly again shows a lack of desire in Cork for the rough and tumble. It's terribly frustrating. I thought Shane Barrett was the star. He'd be my man of the match. Scored, harassed and passed all day long. Two good points by Robbie after coming on, particularly the second, when he won the ball cleanly under pressure.

So after today's double borefest (Clare 2-28, Wex 1-19), it's
Limerick v Cork on the Sunday
Kilkenny v Clare on the Saturday
in the semi finals in 2 weeks time

Ugly win!
Barrett again the highlight, followed by a decent performance from Dalton.
Full back line decent. Everything else not so great.
ROF has had about 5 touches of the ball in two games but has scored 1-2, this is great to see!

There's an article in today's Examiner with Darragh Fitz saying a load of the panel were sick the night before and just before the Dublin game. There was a bug going through the panel. Let's hope it's long gone

Ah, sure if it's not, we'll infect Limerick, and stop the five-in-a-row that way.

He said Luke Meade was sick. Why did he start so?

Fuck, it's hard for me to believe we can beat them twice in one season. Hope I'm wrong

No surprises there. What everyone was expecting.

Reading through all the punditry this morning (and the bookies), we might as well not bother our arses going to Dublin on Sunday - Not one of them have given us a glimmer at all at all!!!
Justified I suppose, but sure we can dream!!!

Unfortunately, no team would get a glimmer against Limerick at the moment. It's nothing personal I suppose. Still can't get past the fact that coming down the home straight in PUC they had reeled us in and were ahead. We need a day where everyone plays above they're form to date to beat Limerick. That's just reality.

We gave away a couple of real soft goals that day.bittergaaman wrote:Unfortunately, no team would get a glimmer against Limerick at the moment. It's nothing personal I suppose. The Echo during the week had 3 matchups to watch. One was Mark Colman on GearĂ³id Hegarty. Not a hope in hell we put Colman on him, otherwise we're dead

I've a feeling Rob Downey or TOM will pick up Hegarty. Someone who can handle his snarling and snarl back.
Colman doesn't really match up physically with any of the Limerick forwards, maybe he can hurl with Cian Lynch but I wouldn't want Colman at centre back either. On one hand I can see a TOM, Joyce, Downey with Colman centre field but that's not ideal either. And I still prefer Downey at 6. Bit of a conundrum with this quartet..all are named and likely to start but there's a danger we might be shoehorning them all in and not necessarily in their best positions, not for Limerick anyway.
Anyway, no point overthinking it either...go with what we trust will work and go hard for it. Just be prepared to make changes around the middle third in particular, and early if the game starts to slip from us before half time.
Funny feeling today as the game gets close...I'm still confident we can bring a big performance, but not sure it'll be enough. I think Cork are the team best equipped to take Limerick down eventually, but can't see it being tomorrow. I just think Limerick are so driven & focussed and will have had a month to plan for every scenario...and they have the smell of history & immortality high in their nostrils.
Fuck it...I'm going for a Cork win!! Rebels Abu.

I'm dreading this to be truthful. I fear it could be a repeat of the 2021 humiliation.
I can't see us beating them twice in one year.

No. I think Limerick will win but there'll be no repeat of 2021, I believe Cork will put in a performance and push them but will fall short. 2021 was peak Limerick. Id be worried about the full back line being exposed to acres of space in front of Gillane and Flanagan.
Jesus i hope we're all wrong. Best of luck to the Rebels

Best of luck today to the hurlers of Cork. Will today be the day the Limerick drive for five will come to an end. Cork will have to hurl like men possessed and each one must obses themselves individually with beating their Limerick marker. It will be difficult but is achievable. Best of luck to all involved, because luck is a vital component on a day like today

Hegarty is cleaning Coleman out of it in the air. They are targeting it.
