Re: Cork Senior Hurling 2024
Kingston's missed touch was costly, half forward line gone out of game.

Why is he even on him?
Badly needed HT there. Outscored 10 to 3 in the 2nd quarter. Limerick HB line dominating. Apart from the odd Harnedy catch, nothing is sticking in the forwards and Lk are beginning to smother us. Forwards struggling
We'll probably need another 2 goals at least to win this

Fuck sake I knew Corks second goal wasn't a thrown ball. How can the referee call a throw ball and not be 100% sure

And who needs goals eh when you can score 0-17 in the second half. Everyone contributed. And the fans

What a day for Cork hurling. Never once put their heads down, it was heads up hurling at breakneck speed. They never relented and just kept driving on, my heart is still thumping. Can we now see it out,YES WE CAN. Hon the rebels.

I didn't watch it because I was too nervous.
Overjoyed we have stopped that crowd making history. Horrible team as they showed with their player's off-field behaviour.
Their supporters aren't much better.

Great day. Good performance by Cork, but by no means perfect. However, the famine still goes on. Clare will be every bit as difficult as Limerick in a different way.

What a game! What an atmosphere!
My voice is shot!
I gave them a small chance before the game. Delighted to be proven wrong!
They were superb. Defence was solid. Held Limerick goalless. Even SOD who was on Gillane did well to keep him to the outside, when Gillane was flying. Special mention to the two Downeys and Joyce who were superb! Joyce had Hegarty (hurler of the year candidate) in his pocket.
Special mention to Collins who shipped some criticism. He stood up big time today!
All starting fowards scoring at least 0:3! Savage stuff. Huge workrate and intensity!
Job not done yet and Clare have the players to hurt us!

Absolute nonsense. It was our crowd who were booing the free takers yesterday, very poor form I thought.leesider wrote:I didn't watch it because I was too nervous.

Re: Cork Senior Hurling 2024
Brilliant Cork performance yesterday. We should all be very proud.
Perfect, no. But how could it be perfect..we were playing the best team around, one of the greatest ever. They were never going to allow someone have a perfect 70min performance against them.
It was as perfect as it could be and as perfect as it needed to be in the end. Every single Cork player stood up yesterday and put in a huge effort..when you do that you will win most games, even against the best around.
Hayes came of age, Collins became an intercounty goalkeeper of repute, the Downey brothers proved they can hold the centre of defence for years to come. Darragh Fitz demonstrated how he is probably the silkiest hurler in Ireland, but now has added steel to the silkiness. Deccy D kept Kyle Hayes out of the game and landed 2 monster strikes of his own in the process. Shane Barrett put himself in the conversation for Hurler of the Year. Every single Cork player contributed massively...what more can be said?
So delighted for Pat Ryan...every word he speaks publicly is so honest, genuine, humble and modest. He was under pressure after the first two games this year, how he and his management team have turned things around to create this huge force is only incredible.
Nothing won yet, as Pat Ryan would be the first to say. The final will be a different game, a whole different dynamic of its own. But that can wait til closer the time.
For now we should all be just very proud of this Cork team and very excited about what lays ahead. We the supporters can wallow on this one for a few days..until the weekend at least!
Rebels Abu....and so well done to everyone involved in making that day happen yesterday.

Re: Cork Senior Hurling 2024
Still buzzing after that. Unreal day. Im gonna do some player analysis,
Pa Collins - Has his brother Ger swopped places with him and we still put Pa Colins down on the program? Since the Clare game, he's like a different player entirely. Fair play to him, puckouts are now working (bar one yesterday), 2 (really 3) vital saves yesterday, that one from Gillane could have buried us. The backs now have confidence in him. Could easily have got MOM
Full back line - excellent. I criticised Noel O'Leary earlier on but he's really stepped up, nice and tidy. Came thundering out on 2 occasions yesterday with ball.
Eoin Downey - again, excellent. Got an early yellow and i thought here we go again, on comes Cahalane. Nope, played controlled aggressive hurling from there on. Flanagan taken off.
Sean O'D - got the short straw with an on fire Gillane who Limerick were giving perfect ball to, out in front and at a lovely height for him. Main thing was not to concede goals to him.
Joyce. An outstanding second half. Ended up on Hegarty? Nullified him except for one late point. Also, did he get a hook on Gillanes hurley for that goal chance? If so, that was the winning of the game right there IMO. That went it, we were in serious trouble.
Rob Downey. Has really grown into CB. You wouldnt see a skillful forward score that point he got. I heard between himself and his brother, they plucked 6 high balls out of the sky. Colossal in the last quarter.
Colman - best game in a while. Started out on Hegarty which was a mistake. Once he got taken off him, we got to see the real Mark, tidy, loads of ball, that beautiful swivel and turn of the hips onto his left, heads up hurling, some great balls down the line. A playmaker but only if hes "marking" the right man

We could discuss how we are going to manage the Clare FF line 11 years on from 2013

Although Limerick people dislike Clare much more than they dislike Cork.

Re: Cork Senior Hurling 2024
Referee for the final will be Johnny Murphy from Ballylanders in Limerick.
Can't say I'm too much up on my referees, whats he like anyone? I know he did Clare v Wexford in the quarter final where he gave Rory O'Connor a yellow after 10 seconds and sent him off before HT which effectively finished the game
Incidently, once of his umpires is Jimmy Barry Murphy
