Re: Cork Minor Football
Cork’s number 7 – I see it was Trevor Kiely by the team list – reminded me of Jimmy Kerrigan, the way he used to tear up the left wing, using up all the space in front of him until he met opposition, then offloaded the ball and went forward to take the return pass.

Re: Cork Minor Football
No sign of the team to play Dublin tomorrow at Nolan Park, either on the Website or Examiner.
Not even a mention of the event. Is it any wonder that the GAA is dying a slow death?
There's more media attention to a swarm of bees at a cricket match in Cork.

Re: Cork Minor Football
Same team that started v Kerry with Oier O Callaghan wearing No 15 this time instead of No 20. I thought Gary Holland played well v Tipp but O Callaghan took his chance v Kerry and despite drawing a blank on the scoreboard he holds on to the jersey.
I saw the Dublin Kildare game on TG4 and they scored 19 points with danger man No 13 Lenny Cahill scoring 7. I'd expect Cork to put captain Gearoid Daly marking this lad but their No 12 Byrne scored 3 from play and Odhran Foley from Bishopstown will have a busy afternoon.
Kildare scored 2-8 but their 2nd goal came close to the end and they were well beaten by the time it came.
If we are to have any chance they will have to get Coakley into the game as he wasn't used properly v Kerry and O Mullane was left to soldier alone up front with help from David O leary.
This time we have a young ref Niall McKenna from Emyvale Co. Monaghan who will not issue cards to young lads without good reason like Morrissey from Waterford did v Kerry.
I say that without ever seeing McKenna ref a match, but I know Monaghan football pretty well and they play the game up there as it should be played.
Best of luck to our young footballers.

Ah would ya stop.
Cork football sumed up in one game. For the millionth time in about 10 years. Ffs.
Feel sorry for the young lads. Sheedy up top looks a serious player

Unbelievable, ref gave a few crucial calls against us near the end- but we sat back on the lead too early. Feel sorry for them, was hard to watch.

How wrong can anybody be?
Not as wrong as little ol me.
McKenna was even worse than Morrissey. How he can look in the mirror tomorrow morning beats me.
He blatantly ignored a rugby tackle on O Mullane 14 yards out when we were a point up near the end and the free to Dublin to level it was clearly a free out. He was even worse than Morrissey with the cards.
Will there be any repercussions? To quote the Duke.."Like hell there will".
These twisters will continue to police our GAA fields and draw their mileage expenses tax free.
Might be colour blindness but I see a negative bias against the real capital.
Having unloaded that rant I'll have to say we were also the authors of our own misfortune and without naming anybody it was clear that our last few lines of defence won't sleep easy for a few nights.
They are only young lads and should expect fair play from officials. They didn't get that today.

Re: Cork Minor Football
What is going on? How do Cork teams keep getting presented with fellas who keep fucking blowing the whistle
Players want to play. Let them play
Is there a biad against Cork? Apart from the ref last Sunday v Offaly who let a lot go early on (he was excellent), we're getting rode every single underage game.
I'm sick shit of it

Scandalous and unforgivable refereeing.
But what else is new in the GAA.

Derry just won the Minor AI, beating Monaghan 1-13 to 0-7. Didnt see it, just the very end but i heard the commentator say they conceded only 6 goals in the entire championship. Do they play negative like their seniors?
Whatever they doing, the've transformed their football fortunes

They should read Eamon Sweeney's article on the back page of today's Sport S'Indo.
A dissertation of the state of gaelic football in 2023.
A master of the vernacular but I have a problem with Sweeney. He's a top class critic but
he doesn't give us his alternative.
Surely he doesn't want us to revert to GAA GOLD?

Re: Cork Minor Football
Just to give minor football a bit of a bump. I really don't know why I'm doing this as what I'm about to say is so negative.
I watched the minor final (City) between Douglas and the Barrs on Rebelgaa online. Not live thankfully.
Watched it in three separate segments as I fell asleep twice watching young lads handpassing the ball and kicking wides.
Holy smoke, this new gaelic football is a disgrace and the day is fast approaching where nobody will pay to watch this tripe.
No blame to the young lads playing. They are only doing what their coaches are drilling into their skulls.

I hope to God they don't coach the young lads to play the sh1te Ross and Clon seniors played
in Enniskeane lately.
They might just read John Fintan's article on the Echo and take heed.

Will we ever forget Larry roaring at him that day " Awwwwwww FFS Haulie" after Haulie belted away another hard won possession to Meath. It's clear as day on the TV recording.

Re: Cork Minor Football
The future is bright..............or is it? 35 garsúns with hopes of wearing the red jersey.
Once more the Carbery division has the biggest number of hopefuls with 11 with 9 clubs represented. Seandún with 7 and 3 clubs represented. Muskerry and Avondhú with 6 apiece , Carrigdown with 3 and 1 each for Duhallow and Beara.
Duhallow and Beara with i each is disappointing as they are both traditional football areas but times are changing.
Lets hope they give a good account of themselves and repeat the feats of the 2019 team.
They have good people in charge and are well looked after in every way.

Theyve been on run free challenge game circuit recently. Played Meath way last weekend along with the 20s. Were supporting play Armagh in Cork this weekend but Armagh pulled the plug
