No doubt a lot of fellas probably happy with the narrow loss and the moral victory etc but Kerry were awful and we continue to pick the wrong players to start.

So the penalty I think was deemed a clear chance on goal but definitely outside the box. Did he even consult with the umpires?

I was following it on Twitter and dipping in and out of PROC for comment. Seems we might have won it at the death if McSweeney had goaled instead of pointing. Kerry are the reigning All-Ireland champions and maybe were trying to keep their powder dry for tougher games ahead?

We needed shooters, every team needs forwards that can shoot. 1st half that was not the case. Even when 10 15 yards from goal there was a trend of, instead of shooting, turn around and pass it to Hurley...
2nd half Sherlock, Powter and Macsweeney changed that. Amazing what can happen when you have player taking the responsibility on to shoot...
We need more of that approach going forward.
They did well, need more foot passing and for once a weekend where a dodgy penalty call does not go against Cork

And on this occasion I agree with your assessment of Gough. Kerry own referees at this stage.

Clifford jnr got MOM. I'd say he got 7 touches of the ball in open play. Cork did as well as any team can do on him.

OK Tipp. I partly guessed there was a misunderstanding but I was thick sour after watching that pillick Morrissey dishing out yellow cards to children FFS.
Somebody told me Goegh consulted his umpires but either way it was a disgusting injustice on an amateur team. He should be ashamed for ever but he won't of course. Most of them refs are low in normal intelligence and when you think about it, anybody trying to ref ANY GAA game is probably seeking notoriety.
Philly McMahon has an interesting stat in today's Indo on the ratio of SCORABLE frees given to the Dubs in relation to their possession stats.
In the 2 nd half today Kerry fouled Cork players 18 times while we fouled the 9 times.
Three of their forwards got YELLOW, Seanie the shaper, Moynihan and David Clifford. MF Jack Barry also.

The only thing I can think of is he deemed the Kerry player with his arms raised as the clear goal scoring opportunity. That or he got blinded by the fact it was Clifford pulled down.

And yes, Kerry were exactly like Jack O C, dirty, cynical hoors

Yup sickening as usual. Another weekend, another shafting by the egotistical, power hungry, spot light chasing referees

The penalty is absolutely debatable at best, however the free towards the end in the corner between the city end and covered stand was awful, cork had possession and would have had a chance to bring it back to 1……the fact Kerry got 4 yellows and no black when Clifford and Moynihan should have got them also was appalling.
However, corks first half was bad, the selection was wrong, we need 2 scorers at all times up front and Sherlock has to start over jones, I’d also have him starting over Hurley but both should start.
Of the senior players today only Brian o’driscoll could be happy imo, Deane can’t score although he works hard and Hurley is so inconsistent, he has a 5 minute cameo where he missed 2 frees and hit a sideline into no man’s land….Corbett if fit goes straight back to the bench and replace either Hurley or Sherlock as required.
Powter superb again, midfield came into it, good to see Blake murphy come on even if it was way way too late, there’s a fella who will hit a ball with conviction
Mayo next in a neutral venue, need a result, otherwise it’s 4 games played and 3 lost

We really need to get back to division 1 and start playing at a higher pace. We showed in the second half that we can stay with the pace of it and actually looked fitter than Kerry in the last ten minutes. Their diving and cynicism was nothing new, but why in the name of God did we not at least test Gough’s cojones by getting the ball to Powter, Taylor or Hurley on the D in the last minute or two and running straight at Kerry inside the square. He would have been under pressure to even it up and I’d have put money on the foul. We still need a couple more forwards who can score and a reliable free taker from distance. Hurley did well but the two frees missed by Hurley and Sherlock (neither easy) with about 15 to go proved very costly.
