Limerick will probably look to target Mark Coleman. We're in big trouble without Joyce

Joyce is a ferocious loss and Coleman isn’t an intercounty level half back or centre back, this team won’t beat limerick as the management have failed to understand what limerick turn the middle of the pitch into a war zone where physicality wins, needed millerick to the backs and each back marks a designated player tbh

That team has the appearance of having been picked by the posters on PROC. Sometimes you'd bloody wonder.

So, hope more than expectation tonight I suppose, maybe no hope...but we have to have hope.

I just want to see Cork put in a solid 70mins performance and see where it gets them...that's 70-75 mins not 10 minute sporadic bursts here and there.

We know what Limerick bring in terms of physicality & aggression...we have to match that throughout, which is no small ask. But if we don't, we have no chance.

Can't give Limerick a head start, if they go 4 or 5 up in the first 10 mins it will be a rout. If Cork can get ahead though and get the crowd engaged we have a chance. But its all about staying power...we have shown we can hurl with, and out-hurl, anyone for short spells... and then default again.

The puckouts have to be massively improved...not just Collins but the intended targets also..to have any chance. We live in hope.

Is this the most pessimistic Cork have been coming into a championship game since the 2010 semi final against Kilkenny? The team doesn't inspire confidence but there's isn't 15 hurlers in Cork currently capable of beating Limerick but the main criticism of this management is that the year will have passed with little development of the younger players who supposedly could get to the level of doing so. Why play Niall O'Leary and Tim O'Mahony at 6 in the league when neither are trusted to play there in championship when the need arises? Why play Lehane at 11 every game but rid of him after one championship game? Why give Conor O'Callaghan one chance at midfield where he's totally out of position and then leave him to be never heard of again? There's probably other examples I haven't thought of, but those alone are emblematic of a management team just making it up as they go along. Ryan in interviews doesn't strike me as a guy who'd inspire players into battle and raise their game a level. After tonight it will likely be one win in seven Munster championship games, which isn't solely management's fault but is still not good enough and doesn't warrant another year.

I fear for our half back line... also I can't get my head around dropping Tommy O Connell. He's one of our only dogs in the fight. Surprised someone like Wayne Sherlock would let this happen

Management must shoulder a HUGE element of fault for where we are which is an early exit. The league as outlined above was totally and utterly waisted, totally misused and the obvious position was no 11 which was one player throughout the league and he lasted 40 minutes which was predictable.
To say that we are playing limerick with Coleman and o’mahoney in the half back line is frightening tbh neither of them are strong in the air or good enough defenders at this level.
The midfield again isn’t powerful enough for what they are facing and should have started with o’mahoney and harnedy to actually put it up to o’donoghue for once, again selection mistakes.
Forwards might score a bit but we’ll concede a huge score again.
I’d also worry about subs; how Meade came on vs Clare over O’Connell or millerick is bizarre and he was well exposed….hopefully it will be competitive and they don’t embarrass themselves but tonight is the end for 2024 and I would think a significant amount of players not just the older cohort

Best of luck to Cork tonight. Cannot for the life of me fathom out how Cork have ended up with the defence and midfield selected tonight. However you never know with Cork of late, may be tonight could be the night. At least its a help that neither Owens or Kennedy are refereeing this game.

I dont expect Cork to win tonight, we concede way too much and cant tackle properly, we'll probably need to score 3-25 or similar again which i cant see happening.
Enjoy the occasion, pity we only get 2 a year down the "new" Páirc, something is wrong when this is the case, imagine two per month in April, May, June against the bigger teams? Anyway, thats a debate for another day

Alan Connolly got 4 (FOUR) possessions against Clare and did something every time. He needs at least 10 tonight

Regardless of the out come, I feel Pat Ryan has missed such a major opportunity to blood a brand new Cork team with new young players and a brand new style and culture... His Knowledge of the U20s pre his senior appointment would and should of been invaluable. He proved way too Conservative and I'm disappointed at the lack of culture change within the set-up not to mention the lack of tactical awareness.

It's a simple game... Cork have been obsessed with the short passing running game since our class of 1999 which was fine for that team but that half of hurling has shown we have wasted so many years trying to replicate the 1999 lads...

All our mistakes in the first half came from short Tippytappy shit... Thats no coincidence

Fucking Cork... Delighted we won but so fucking angry at the position we put ourselves in. When was the last time Patrick Collins actually made a save? And then he does his best to lose the game for us...

Delighted. We're hanging in there.
Did so much right, attitude, aggression, pace, long ball, had Limerick rattled, high catching, big loud crowd, impactfulsubs subs, the Páirc rocking, great character at the end etc

But do the stupidest things at the worst possible time and literally hand Limerick 2 goals with short puckouts to players who are gonna get turned over in front of goal, Kamakazie bullshit when the long ball had Limerick in the horrors all game long.
That shit HAS TO STOP, it's laughable that we're persisting with it not just at senior but at minor and u20.

Anyway, another week of buzz at least, I'm off for a few nice drinks, buzzing

Jesus Christ, the apostles and all the saints.
What a game. The wife is driving us home because I'm like someone demented still.
I didn't think Kingston was the right sub but by god did he prove me wrong. Got us out of jail when it looked like there was nothing on and he made it all himself.
We are still alive lads. What a night.
